THE BURNING VALLEY

I am Imran the heart throb of all
at times helping my Abbu in his business of making shawl,
I love roaming around the streets of Baramullah
after I am done with paying homage to our Bismillah,
I have a mother and a younger sister to play
always dominating her by leaving her nothing to say.......!!!!!!!!

Abbu has several health problems still he tries
in order to maintain our family so that we survive,
Ammi is all busy taking all household burdens
never revealing her hardships and pains,
I am ever engrossed with my friends and school
pranking around making each other a fool......!!!!!!!!

But at times I wonder there is something wrong
our Kashmir is in a fight for long,
A fight where peoples existence are questioned
we mortals at the name of religion are condemned,
At times I find my elders in soaring eyes
cursing people around when their loved ones die.......!!!!!!!!!

I find chaos around the streets while going to school
gunfires and curfews creating a blood pool,
The panic around I see makes me scared
and it seems I have lost myself in bizzare,
some men in uniform try to evacuate us
and pouring water on some torching bus......!!!!!!!!

The elders say Kashmir is in wrong hands and we must fight for its pride,
but I feel the one who says it are the ones who takes wrong side.
I am still small to be paid heed
but then why our elders forget our basic need??????
we all are tired of these protests and rallies
which has made Kashmir from a paradise to a burning valley.......!!!!!!!!!

I(Sourav Banerjee,22)am a law student!
I was quite flattered and honoured to call myself a citizen of this great nation "INDIA" when I came to know that we were about to host the Commonwealth Games in Delhi this year(2010).It was really a matter of pride & glory for us to host such a prestigious sports event which would be internationally acclaimed because it involved several countries putting up a show with their best sports personalities competing in an international forum.
But,I guess things took a huge turmoil when corruption showed its ugly side, unveiling the mask it had portrayed in front of us.I was astonished & numb to discover that an opportunity which comes perhaps once in a lifetime was being ruined by our very own hands. This would have helped us in gaining mileage as a country,as an economic power and ought to be super power nation but a bunch of wrong men at the right place with their own vested interests are simply defaming us by such deeds.
The officials in charge were well aware of the importance of this event and the things ought to follow if they could'nt put up a good show, inspite of this such mismanagement & up level corruption is simply unacceptable.a forum where thousands of crores of money is being invested, why is it always that people need to reprise their vested interests.
Can't we just for the sake of doing something different, execute the work bestowed upon us with transparency setting up examples within ourselves & making a mark in the global field?
Mr.Kalmadi
[Chairman of COMMONWEALTH GAMES,DELHI 2010] says he is ready for any probe or allegations against him after the games are over, but here I would like to raise a question that why do we always face such hindrances before anything big is organised by us?
Is it not a question on our morale & efficiency that such probes take place everytime we take in charge of doing something to prove our worth internationally?
As a citizen of this nation,I would earnestly request the CID(Central Investigating Department)& other Govt officials connected with this sporting event  to look into this matter seriously and take stern action against the persons found guilty. All misappropriation of funds should be evaluated and immediate action for recovery should be entrusted.
We should set up examples that we will not tolerate any nuisance under any circumstances!!!!!!!!
